reason certain parents are upset with the SM is that he/she is correctly
enforcing the rules as to their son, and not making the exceptions they
think that "Junior" is entitled to. Many parents who are not trained
leaders will not understand how the requirements should be enforced, and
any vote may be skewed by their misunderstanding.
Secondly, I do not believe that the parents nor the committee can fire
the SM. A SM serves at the pleasure of the Chartered Organization. The
church that sponsors our troop selected me and appointed me, and they
have the power to fire me. Certainly the committee can vote that I
should end my term as SM, but if the CO does not agree, then I am still
SM.
