I just joined the list today, so I decided before I felt the need to jump
right in I should at least introduce myself! :)
I have been in the Cub Scout program since my older son was a Tiger
Cub...almost 5 years now. I am presently Cubmaster of our pack, and my
husband is our Committee Chair. My two boys are a first and second year Web.
I am also on District staff, Training Staff and have been on council staff
for a few events. I was also on Roundtable staff, but had to give up that
position because of time constraints.
My pack is about 2/3 military which presents some interesting problems
sometimes.
We have boys constantly moving in and out as well as leaders.
Tomorrow is our Pow Wow...I am teaching two classes. This is the first time
I have taught at Pow Wow so I am a little nervous.
I also have untertaken a large project. I wanted to put together all the
resources I had gathered over the past 4 1/2 years and put it together for
my leaders to use....I hate to see it go to waste. Then we found a Pow Wow
book from 20 years ago....so I decided to incorporate that in also. When I
suggested to our DE that maybe we could put this book together for all of
our district or Council he told me it wasn't in the budget so forget it. A
leader from another pack heard me talking and asked me to make her a
copy...she would pay for the copy expenses...I enjoyed the idea so much that
I am trying to gather things from all over now. I have pulled some things
off of web pages, found some other old Pow Wow books, spoken to some email
pals that are also leaders and I am still casting around for some other ideas.
This is going to be a book with all kinds of ideas, games, skits, songs,
inspirations, etc that you don't neccessarily find in the handbook, How
To's, etc.
If anyone might want to share something they think might be of use I would
appreciate it. When the book is finally done I will let you know. If
anyone might be interested in a copy I will let you know how much copies
cost and you can get one. I am not doing this for profit, but I can't
afford to pay for copies for all the wonderful Scouters out there.
Now that I have rambled, I will sit back and enjoy some inspiring conversations.
Yours in Scouting
