New problem...

Last night we had our Webelos Den Meeting and I have my boys working on
some sections of the "Citizen" Activity Badge at the moment. We're also
preparing for carolling on December 11 so we were practicing carols.
While they did that I was checking books and making sure I had everything
straight for awards for the Pack Meeting next Thursday. One of the
parents (most of mine stay for the meetings) was going over the book with
me and the requirements say for Sportsman and Athlete. All the boys have
everything for Athlete except completeing the "Sports Physical Fitness
Pin" section. I showed them the book we'd need to use to do it. They
also have most things finished for Sportsman except #4 which is to earn
belt loops in two "team" sports. Well, they brought to my attention two
of the Webelos II boys who they say have these pins and absolutely have
never participated in a team sport and they don't believe ever did the
physical fitness booklet and wonder why *I* seem to be so much stricter.
I've made it clear what the requirements are. My son only plays team
baseball, no other, and at this point I have no plans of him joining a
basketball or soccer team so I don't see him getting the Sportsman pin.
How do I explain these obvious "let it slide by" attitudes. The Webelos
II group has 6 or 7 boys and they all will cross over with 19! pins. Good
grief. There is only one of my 6 boys who plays on two sports "teams".
They also were bothered last year because they saw Wolves getting their
BB-Gun and Archery belt loops who had never attended any Scout Camps
whatsoever. According to my leader guides for the Sports Belt Loops those
particular two can ONLY be earned at an authorized BSA Camp with a trained
instructor. And that is when my boys got them.
I'm not one to "handover" awards and this has really god me back against a
wall.
(btw, one of the boys that has received these is the CM's son..so I can't
exactly go there for advice)
Thanks for any words of wisdom...
