The loss of a young life for any reason is tragic. Our troop lost an
Eagle Scout to leukemia in 1996. One of the things we did was to
establish a James E. West Fellowship Award in his memory by donating
$1,000 to our council's trust fund. This was appreciated by the young
man's family and seemed to help with the "healing" process, especially
among the older Scouts who knew the young man so well. Information on
the James E. West Fellowship Award is available at any council
office.
