I've used younger Scouts as Den Chiefs with great success. As long as the
scout is mature enough to handel the leadership role, he gets the proper
training, and commits to doing it for at lest one year it could work both
ways. Please try to remember, thought, that at that time he is a Den
Chief not just another scouts in your Den. See to it he does his job and
you don't have to "pick up" behind him. Also know that this is a job
appointed by the Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster of New Scouts.
