Well, I was under the same understanding that a scout could only earn one
sports or one academic letter. I had to pull my Leader Guide to see what
it said. The only thing I can find is on page 20 which states:
Sports and Academics Letters
The Sports letter, No. 00806, or Academics letter, No. 00780, is earned by
the Scouts when both he and his adult partner earn a Sports or Academic
pin. The letters are designed to be worn on a swearter or jacket.
That's it.
I'd have to agree, upon reflection, that there is no incentive to get an
adult to participate and earn the pin if you can't earn the letter again.
I may start exercising for that Physical Fitness Pin now :) I hadn't been
doing it with my son as I figured he couldn't earn anything but the pin
anyway! (it's not like I don't need the exercise!)
