Not quite, Kristen. In one of its more shameful actions, with the
advent of women in Scouting, BSA instituted the Silver Fawn Award for
women who were nominated for the Silver Beaver Award. This award was
presented in lieu of the Silver Beaver because they were women, up until
1974, when cooler heads prevailed. All Silver Fawn recipients were
offered the opportunity to exchange their award for the Silver Beaver
award, and many did this. Others, for their own good reasons, retained
the Silver Fawn.
