Fellow Scouters,
I am writing to pick the brains of some of the outdoorsmen on the
list. My brother and I are starting to plan a trip to Alaska to do some
backpacking and sea kayaking. All eight prospective crew members have
considerable wilderness experience. Right now we're thinking about trying
to hike for a week or a little more in Denali National Park and the go to
Glacier Bay for the sea kayaking.
My questions are these:
1. Does anyone know prices and availability of permits for this area?
Outfitters? How to contact the chamber of commerce?
2. Does anyone know where the best place to fly into for Denali is?
3. If we can't get a permit for Denali, where else is a good place with
comparable terrain?
4. Anything else that you might feel is pertinent?
You can email me privately. Thanks a lot.
Scott
