Re: nightlight on campouts

One suggestion that comes to mind would be a hurricane lantern with the
wick turned down as low as it will go and still burn. This would give off a
similar level of light to the average night light, and should burn slowly
enough that it will not run out of fuel before dawn. When I was in the army
this was the method used for lighting the way to field latrines in rear
echelon areas on exercise. Naturally this could not be used inside a tent
due to fire risk; however, if it was near the door of the tent the light
would hopefully come through the door. Besides, most synthetic fabric tents
I have seen are thin enough that the light would most likely penetrate the
walls of the tent.
