Coloured Hair !

If you have heard this story before I apologise ... A dozen or so years
ago I ran a British Air Scout troop. We were at camp in the New Forest.
Two days before we were due to go home we took all the boys' uniforms to
the laundromat so they would be presentable on the train ride home. So
the kids went to town in " scruff kit " ...

The previous night we had a wide game where the two teams were identified
by spraying the backs of their hands with washable skin/hair dye that was
the rage at the time. ( It also showed us who had a good wash the next
morning, but that's another story.)

So one of the fourteen year old P/Ls used the remainder of the orange and
blue dye to dye his hair, which went well with the leather jacket, jeans
and boots. <g> The kids went shopping whilst we waited for the washing
machines. I was wearing my spare uniform. I was in a sporting goods
shop when Hugh came up to me. He wanted to buy a pocket knife but they
wouldn't serve him unless an adult was with him. So I saw the sales
assistant and said " It's OK ... he's with me ... actually he's our
Member of Parliament's son ... "
