To all who may have replied to my husband's message about the cooking badge
for the Canadian Cub Scout who has just joined my BSA Webelos Den,
Thank you! But if you haven't received a reply from him its because the
gremlins are out in force here.
You see, I'd originally tried to post this request to the list myself back on
Sept. 14th. That's when we discovered that at sometime in the last 6 months
or so, MSN had started attaching a server name to our out-going mail. It was
ignoring it on incoming mail, so I was still getting the daily mail from
Scouts-L, but I couldn't post or give commands. Since I normally reply
privately, I hadn't noticed. Jon kindly responded to our cry for help by
unsubscribing us, but it has taken me until last night (23rd) to finally get
correctly resubscribed.
Meanwhile, I really had need of the information, so Ken posted it for me from
his work account on Weds, just one day before setting his account to nomail as
he was going on a campout & then on a business trip to Brazil. He told me he
had had a couple of responses and intended to reply, but I don't know if he
actually had time to do that. One had offered to send us the badge, & he was
to give that gentleman our home address. Did this get done? Ken is currently
in Sao Paulo, teaching a class for his company, Storagetek. The phone system
and time difference is such that, except for a message on my answering machine
to say he got there safely, I've had no contact since driving him to the
airport on Sunday, (2 1/2 hours after he got back from camping with the
troop).
So if you haven't been replied to, please send it again to THIS address:

The boy, Jared, is from Orangeville and is adjusting quite nicely to our way
of doing things. I just want to see that what he earned before his family
moved gets to him. He had so proudly showed us his Canadian scout uniform at
his first den meeting, but his face fell so when he explained he didn't have
the cooking badge he had earned because they had moved before it was awarded.
I expect he will be earning quite a few activity pins with us. He is quite
the go-getter. He has had his new Webelos book only a few days, but is
already almost done with Bobcat, and earned Naturalist & Forester with the den
in only 2 meeting, catching up with the boys who had done part of these 2 at
Webelos Day Camp this summer.
Thanks again for the help, I can always count on Scouts-L to be there when I
need it.
YIS,
