I guess I need to clarify and apologize to Ian. Snipe hunting did not occur
while I was there. A few of the leaders were standing around talking about
snipe hunting when they were kids, and one of the Staffers mentioned that
Baden Powell himself originated Snipe Hunting (don't know if this is true or
not), not Scouts. Hazing certainly doesn't happen on my watch, and if it
does and I don't know about it, you can count on be held responsible when I
do find out. Baden Powell is one of the best Camps I have attended,
(haven't been to many) it offers a wide variety of skill items for both the
newer, novice Scout to the Scout who has earned everything and is just
looking for adventure! My son (Life Scout, working on Eagle) has attended
Skymont(TN or NC?), Baden Powell (UK), Spanish Trails (FL), and Camp Freedom
(Germany) and still likes Baden Powell the best, with Skymont close on its
heals. Even my Second Class son who was in their ACE program had a blast,
loved the climbing tower and wants to go back to the obstical course (loved
the mud)! My hats off to you Ian, its a great place to Camp!
