Your very fortunate to have a Lion's Club sponsor you. Even though you
cannot go out directly and solicit funds, the Lion's Club can (and in our
case have) and give it to you.

We have a "Parent of the month". This parent and or spouse acts as an
Assistant Scoutmaster for the month. I turn over to them a binder with
all the information that they will need, including a copy of "The
bar-b-que" and "scoutmaster's Fast Start". I encourage them to attend the
PLC before the month that they are ther, so that they get familiar with
what is going on. They also get an Assistant Scoutmaster's patch and told
that if they would like to wear it on a permanent basis, we would be more
than happy to sign them up. I've gotten 2 more part time ASM doing this.

Even if you have to cancel something else, training leaders especially
the SPL is the SM's number one job. Take advantage of the council and
national JLT as well, even if you have to go back to the Lion's to get
more money.

Again, this is the Lion's responsibility. Invite them to a meeting so
that they can see it for themselves, then explain the situation
completely as to your future potentials.
These are some of the things I've been through these past two years. We
grew from 6 to 26 with another 20 crossing over in March. Our Lion's Club
has been very supportive of our efforts.
Good Luck
