>We have no idea how to handle all these kids for a good Pack Meeting.
I like loud lively Pack meetings. The more the boys are yelling, jumping,
cheering and singing, the more fun they are having and the less they want
to start talking to their buddy because they are bored.
At summer camp, I always tell my guys (Webs and Boys Scouts) to learn the
SONGS and SKITS that we have never seen or heard before.
We heard the announcement song at a Webelos summer camp five years ago and
we have been singing it at Pack Meetings since then. The boys love it and
look forward to the CM saying "OK, I have some announcements".
If it extends your program, then plan it as part of the program. I knew it
was coming and I prepared and looked forward to it. If the boys didn't have
fun with it, they wouldn't be singing it.
Jan, if the Scouts aren't paying attention or not having fun in any part of
your Pack meetings, then take that part out or change it. You will find the
meetings will become shorter and more fun without loosing any Quality.
If it is fun, they will come. After a good Pack Meeting of Songs, skits,
cheers, yelling, jumping and a little crying, I would go home thinking "I
love this Scouting Stuff".
