Re: ANNOUNCEMENT SONG

Yes, it is the same song, but at our camp, I have seen it go on for over 5
minutes with more and more verses. It certainly is not JUST ONE chorus,
but many, many. Only the staff seem to know the verses, so the Scouts
really don't participate. We do have excellent songs after the meals, so
it is not like we are not singing. This announcement song is in addition
to the regular song after the meal. It doesn't happen all the time, but
enough that it gets a bit old. When you have set times for activities
after the meal, you can't sit back and relax and spend more time. I have
yet to see the morning or afternoon schedule adjusted because we took more
time in the dining hall. My objection to this song has nothing to do with
regular singing in the dining hall. Again, this is a personal feeling on
the announcement song - maybe I just have seen it too many times. (I
still enjoy the other songs, even though many of them I learned as a Scout
at the same camp 40 years ago!)
