Large Area Knot Tying

Scouters!
At our Fall Camporee, our troop will be in charge of the clove-hitch knot
tying event. This is the one where the participants must tie the knot
around the tree without getting closer than "n" feet. I know this was
discussed quite some time ago, but could someone fill me in on the
instructions for successfully completing this venture? Thanks!
