Re: NO LEADERS, NO DEN

Although you are appealing to parents who are involved in Pack positions
other than den leader, there may be apprehension about direct leadership of
the boys. Some years ago, as cubmaster I faced a group of parents in a
similar situation. After explaining about the availability of training, and
the support materials, publications, and other rescources available, I was
getting a cold response until two former den leaders volunteered a
testamonial about the job being rewarding and not too difficult or time
consuming. I then had three volunteers willing to try out the position.
Other times I have had success with one-on-one contact with potential leaders.

You may want to try these methods and solicit the "testamonials" in advance.
I did break the time commitment down to afternoons or evenings per month for
9 (or 10) times for the year, emphasizing the "limited" time commitment
(only 9 meetings with the boys).

Hope this helps. YiS
