Hi all,
There is one story I have seen regarding camp fire ashes. The story goes as
follows:
There is a tradition that the ashes from the very first campfire on Brownsea
Island were kept and put on the next and so on. Over the years the ashes have
spread around the world, from campfire to campfire. The campfire leader has
a bottle of ashes from the last campfire he was at and in order to keep up
the tradition he is going to sprinkle them over this fire and re-fill the
bottle the next morning with the new ashes. At this point the leader will
sprinkle sugar over the burning wood and the sugar will flare up, giving the
impression of something special.
Make sure the fire is very hot and well built up, otherwise the sugar will
burn slowly and smell like burnt toffee, also be careful that you don't
use to much sugar.
