A parent may not be present at the Eagle Board, even if he is SM!
However, the application is to be signed by the registered SM! There
are a number of ways to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest!
I suspect, though, that the real conflict of interest runs the other
way. The SM makes his son work harder than the rest....but the son
still, on average, advances faster than most other boys in the troop
because the family eats, drinks, sleeps and breathes Scouting.
