That's not the biggest worry, as one has been to POLARIS and the other is
on his way to either POLARIS, SOGUS, or District JLT this coming year (on
top of spending the last six months as my ASPL). I should have been more
clear, but I am *really* afraid of two things. One, they will crack
under the pressure of handling so many boys less than two years younger
than they (as I very nearly did at Camp Cooper during my first stint as
SPL when *everyone* was within two years of my age; I spent the entire
week listening to such witty sayings as,"Why should we listen to you?"
"What are you going to do to make us?", etcetera). Two, they will be
pushed around by the committee. Both are very respectful towards all
adults (not a bad trait!), so much so towards those that they view as
their superiors (in the managerial/militaristic/bureaucratic sense) that
they may not voice their objections strongly (or at all).

Well, this is being handled, as the Scoutmaster, the Advancement Chair
and I have already begun talking about it. This schedule, however, is
the Committee Chairman's private preserve in a very literal sense, as
many of the activities and the like were suggested by him, and he may
present some serious opposition to correction, as I am (to him) just a
"kid." In addition, he has a very cavalier attitude towards some
sections of Scout policy (especially Safety Afloat, which almost sunk a
canoe trip (pun somewhat intended) as he was unaware of the regulations
until it was almost too late to train our SM and bring in an adult friend
of mine who is National Pool and Waterparks Lifeguard), since he thinks
the rules haven't changed in the twenty years since he was a Scout.

I'm beginning my senior year at HBHS this year, however a lot of stuff is
about to hit me in the face (college and scholarship applications, in
addition to two merit badges and my Eagle Board) and that may interfere
in my involvement with my troop (I pray not).
