are camp nicknames banned???

Fellow Scouts & Scouters - we in our Council have been told that National
has recently sent out a dictate that camp nicknames (like "Flamingo" or
"Pooh Bear") are no longer permitted at Scout camps. When I asked to
see a copy of the letter, I was politely diverted, and never saw it. I
figured
that if it was for real, comments would appear on SCOUTS-L or ARROW-L.
I have not seen anything, and it has been over a week. Are we in our
Council being scammed by our executives, or does somebody have
the text of this so called mandate?????
