G'day all,
Here, not having the rank requirments etc that the BSA program does, we
send the cubs up to scouts when they are ready. Scouts here can be accepted
at 10 years of age. Most go up when they are 10.5 years. Some go up
earlier, some go up a bit later. It all comes down to what is best for the
child in question. If they (as I read) have finished and met the
requirements, then there is no reason to hold them back. here, in
Australia, it;s been shown if you hold them back, simply becuase of the age
thing, without looking at the maturity of the child etc, you may lose them
altogeather. That's why we have a year over lap in most sections. So you
can send the child up when they are ready. Not when your ready. after all,
we are here for the girls and boys who join scouting.
