I can't help but think this example doesn't show a fair DE. The choice of Pack
or Troop should rest with the boys they serve. Restricting the choices available
to the boys doesn't seem correct. We have two other Packs in our town and all
three of us have School Night at the same time. We all have very similar
highlights in our program (model rocket launches, overnight stay on the
Battleship Massachusetts, etc.) but we each have different Pack cultures and
timing. There are two Troops in town that we all happily feed into. Three Packs
give the kids and their families flexibility in working Sub Scouts into their
lives. It gives me the ability to suggest that parents move their son to another
Pack if things aren't working out with ours. It's better for everyone.
I'd suggest, if you're past whatever started all this, that you hook up with the
other Pack and become allies if at all possible.
