Re: Service Project Policy? (Was Re: A Couple of Questions)

It seems to me that we should not try to constrain the way the service
hours are distributed - that amounts to changing the requirements from
"at least 6 hours" to three projects of at least two hours, for example.

How about making sure that there is something fun associated with the
service experience. My son is ofering to buy pizza for people who
help in the 7-hour wrap-up of his Eagle project! We've also helped out
with community projects in which the boys were given cake and soda by the
sponsors at the end. Neither is enough to "bribe" a boy who doewsn't want
to participate, but the "fellowship" of sharing a meal or a snack at the
end of a hard day's work can really be fun, and is much better than
breaking up and going in separate directions to clean off and get on to
homework. O/A members may want to remember their Ordeal....
