Things that make you go Hmmm.
When baseball was developed, the distance to first base from home plate
was determined to be 90 ft. This was probably a fairly arbitrary
decision. " Yeah, that's about right, we can change it if it doesn't
work out." Think about this, though. If the distance to first was two
feet less, what a different game it would be.
