Medications

As I finish up preparing my troop for summer camp at Old Hickory Camp Raven
Knob and reviewed over the leaders guide about turning all medications over
to the health lodge, I wondered what other council camps do as far as
medications.
As a health care professional this BSA policy concerns me. Especially when
you take away inhalers from asthmatics and insulin away from juvenile
diabetics. From the day these youths are diagnosed to manage and control
their own medical conditions, we take the control away them. I don't feel
this is the right policy to have. It does not take long for either an
asthmatic or diabetic to start getting into trouble.
