Re: "It Happened To Me" -- is anyone else having problems?

Good for you for wanting to show this videotape to your pack. We did
this the second year I was cubmaster of my old pack, and it worked out
great. We followed the recommended procedure--that is, send out a note
to all the parents, which I did, explaining what we were going to do and
telling them that we were going to show it to the parents only at the
next pack meeting.

Well, al the parents came, we showed the videotape, and the pack
committee answered questions. The parents were almost entirely
supportive; clearly, they appreciated the importance of the video.

So, we showed it at the next meeting to the boys, again, according to the
book. l I.e., show the tape, then simply end the meeting--no discussion
at all. Let the boys talk about it with their folks on the way home if
they wanted to.

I think only a couple of parents kept their kids at home that night; at
the preceeding pack meeting, when we showed the tape to the parents, we
told them then that if they didn't want their sons to see the tape,
simply stay home that night. I am pleased to report that our attendance
was about the same as usual, as I recall.

I think you should simply plan to show the tape to the parents, and
follow the same procedure. You might also get the district YPT czar to
come to a pack committee meeting and explain the importance of the film.
Have any of many of the pack committee been to YPT? Maybe you ought to
start there, actually, if the answer to this question is "no."
