Re: "It Happened To Me" -- is anyone else having problems?

It's called "societal denial." By keeping quiet about sexual abuse,
parents are possibly reinforcing the abuser's most effective tool for
finding victims who won't tell. As a now-adult victim of childhood sexual
abuse, I know that to ensure the victim's silence, the abuser will
convince his victim that to talk about what happened will turn his parents
against him. They'll be angry for what he did. They won't love him.

I haven't seen this film, but I've seen and shown "A Time To Tell." Some
parents thought it unwise to show the film, but no one came right out and
objected. I'm not sure if I would show the film without the parents'
consent. You can only do so much without the support of parents. The
ultimate responsibility is theirs.
