Re: A Way of Life

In a message dated 97-05-21 11:52:11 EDT, you write:

<< I would like to ask other list Members what they think of my actions
and what they consider would have been in the best interests of
the young men concerned and what would have been in line with
the Scout Oath and Law. >>

Kevin -

I, too, agree with you and would have done the same thing in that situation.
I don't know that you could have been more in line with the Scout Oath and
Law.

What is unfortunate is that society, in general, does not live by the Scout
Oath and Law. Perhaps this gives us an opportunity. It is a sad fact that
in today's world both you and the boys' parents are open to accusations of
improprieties. (You invited them into you home, their parents locked them
out of theirs. WE assume these are oversights and neighborly concern, but
not everyone would.) Perhaps, if we reach enough children in the Scouting
programs, tomorrow's world won't be so bad that they have to worry about
recriminations for trying to help someone out.
