Lucien,
Would you mind posting this on Scouts-L for me please?
I truly think people are "putting the cart before the horse" here.
And
there short sightedness will probably hurt the program in the end.

Brothers,
Look at what we are doing here. We are passing a guilty verdict on
a
man before he is even tried. We have a separate legal system in
this
country, based on the principle of "Innocent until proven guilty."
As
scouts we pledge our selves "On our honor I will do my best to do my
duty to God and my Country..." I always took this to mean up
holding
the Constitution and its basic rights.
What if he had been a volunteer in your own council? What would
your
reaction been? Would you just throw him out no questions asked?
People make mistakes. Let's not make one by convicting a man before
he
is even tried. I feel we should treat him like we would treat any
volunteer would be treated in our organization.
I am not saying he did it; I am not saying he didn't do it. I am
just
saying let's let the Justice system work its course, and then deal
with
it. After all is this what scouting needs, more bad PR?
YiB,
Brian Sutilla
