Our troop (formerly Troop 575, now Troop 3) conducted the campfire ashes
ceremony listed below for nearly two years. The ceremony would be appended each
campout. Eventually, it would have had to be summarized to keep it brief.

Ashes Ceremony
In February of 1995, Troop 575 conducted its first campfire at Gov. Bebb Park in
Butler County, Ohio. Into the fire were added ashes from many other Scout
campfires dating back to 1936 and coming from all 7 continents and all 50 United
States. These ashes were gifts from Scouting friends in Illinois, Quebec,
Canada, and Dublin, Ireland.
In this same tradition, we have taken ashes from that campfire and added them to
fifteen more campfires:
Camp Hook March 1995
Camp Michaels April 1995
Hueston Woods June 1995
Ransburg Scout Reservation June 1995
Mt. Airy Forest July 1995
The Great Smoky Mountains August 1995
Camp Michaels August 1995
Carter Caves September 1995
Peterloon at Camp Craig October 1995
East Fork Stables November 1995
Camp Craig January 1996
Gov. Bebb Park February 1996
California Nature Center March 1996
Red River Gorge April 1996
Little Miami River May 1996
These ashes symbolize our connection with The World Brotherhood of Scouting. If
you have brought ashes from our last campfire, please add them now to this fire.
Tomorrow, everyone here will be given ashes to take with them to remember our
fellowship here tonight and to add to our next campfire.
