stoves & lanterns

I have been following the recent stove recommendations, & even checked out,
as someone suggested, the backpacker articles on the web. But I am
intrigued by bothe the fuel-less zip stoves, and the any-kind-of-fuel stoves
[re: MSR Whisperlight vs. COleman Peak 1]. Having never seen or experienced
the zip stoves, can anyone tell me how well they really do work vs. the
MSR/Coleman models ? ANy input at all would be helpful.
Also I am looking at lanterns. While these are much more basic, I'll accept
any suggestions here, too .
Our Troop is VERY active, camping monthly, and we do everything from simple
State Park trips [where you can park within 500 yards of the primitive
camping area] to canoe trips & backpacking [with 5/10 mile hikes & all our
gear].
I appreciate the advice ....
