Summer Camp for Cub

Cade, Jennifer J. (Jennifer.J.Cade@ONTARIO.HONEYWELL.COM)

Hello Fellow Scouters:

I am Jennifer Cade, also known as Baloo with the 67th London Pack in London,
Ontario, Canada. When time permits, I do a fair bit of 'lurking and
learning' through Scouts-L. Thanks to everyone for making it such a
pleasure. This is my first posting to the list, I hope you can help me out.

I have a Cub who is in a single-parent family. His mother has saved all year
long for his summer vacation, and she has asked for my help. She would like
to provide her son with some summer memories (other than being told what to
do by a babysitter!) so she is trying to send her son to camp. Her daughter
goes to Guide Camp, and is subsidised through "Camperships". She is hoping
for something similar for her son.

Are there any Scout Camps in Southern Ontario (or nearby) that will provide
an individual Cub with a week or more of activities? There are Day Camps in
the London area, but with mom working long hours and shiftwork it doesn't
make much sense. Most Scout camps seem geared to accept entire Packs and
Troops, not individuals.

Mom is prepared to pay a little bit more for travel and a week's worth of
residential camp, just so that her son can experience 'something special' in
his childhood. Since he is a member of Scouting, she is hoping that she can
keep the financial outlay to JUST a 'little bit more' . . . .

Anybody out there got any suggestions? Please respond to me with whatever
relevant information you can. Thanks once again to you all!

Jennifer Cade
