Protocol Question

I have a protocol question for the group.

We are getting a new Scoutmaster in August, after the Jamboree. Should all current Assistant Scoutmasters hand in their
patches to the new Scoutmaster - since we are all acting, today, as assistants to the current Scoutmaster - and allow the
new Scoutmaster to select his assistants?

I know it's a really long question, but are there any written rules about this? Unwritten?
