A Matter of Etiquette

Dear Abby,
I've had many occasions to spend more than a few minutes phrasing a
thoughtful response to E-Mail'ed inquiries. Sometimes I receive a personal
"thank you" or some other indication that the message has been received and
read, if not appreciated.
However, as often as not, there is no resonse. Did my E-Mail get through?
Was my message lost in the ether? Was the addressee "really torqued?"
Abby, please remind your readers to acknowledge those courtesies extended to
them.
Thanks,
