Recently, took Scouts to vic of Nelson, B.C., to award 2 Canadian
Scouts medals for their participation in our Klondike Derby.
Requirement was a written statement from the boys parents, giving
permission, date & place of birth, & period of visit. Student ID was
acceptable if it had a photo. I believe that because the trip was for
only 6 hours & we were all in unifrom, the Canadian Border Patrol did
not ask for any documentation other then asking each Scout where they
were born. Returning was no problem. The U.S. side just asked where
everyone was born & were we bringing anything back into the country.
This may not answer your question-but, for extended camping trips a BSA
"trip ticket" may be in order. To that, one of our troops (921), had
merely added a troop roster giving date, place of birth & address of
each Scout. Also, those Scouts without passports (we often refer to 921
as the Beverly Hills Troop) had to carry along their "photed Student ID.
In addition, another of our Troop (905), require each Scout to wear G.I.
type ID disc around their neck listing name, address, telephone number,
blood type & religion. Oh, we are centered around Colville, WA in the NE
corner of WA State.
