. They got a car for him but they are not going to do anything
traditional like wrap up the car keys like most parents would. His
parents laid out a neighbourhood compass course. He will take a series
of bearing and headings when he gets home on Tuesday.
I love it. When my oldest son was 5, he wanted a bicycle for his
birthday. Instead, he unwrapped a fishing rod and reel (and a used one
at that). Not only that, but someone had pulled all of the line off the
reel and it was wound all around the house, inside and out, tangled up
with everything. It took him about 45 minutes to wind up all the line on
the reel. The end of the line had a plastic fish on it tied to his new
bicycle which was sitting in a bathtub.
No wonder our children grow up to torment us.
