I am now writing a parents guide and adult training class for our Troop
adults.
One of the problems we have run into is PLC meetings. The ASMs where
frustrated from not getting enough information from the PLC, so we started
encouraging the them to attend the PLC meetings.
The problem we have seen from this is the adults tend to take the meeting
away from the boys by giving a lecture of a past experience or change the
intent of the meeting by bringing up things the boys really don't care
about. I am guilty of this myself. I call it the Cub Masters reflex because
I have notice that Cub Master are the worst.
After watching two boys fall asleep during a lecture from a ASM (who is
also a CM), I realize our mistake. After talking to the SM, I found he was
very frustrated also but didn't want to discourage the adults from coming
because he wants them to feel involved. So I want to include this in the
training class.
How do you guys let the PLC run the meetings without the adults interfering
and at the same time encourage the ASMs to attend?
