Steve,
first of take a chill pill, secondly I don't agree with taking a
month here and a month there either, however if the youth in question
served in another leadership position for six months that qualifies for
eagle while he was a life scout, he has completed the six months of
leadership, period - the requirement does not say "in the last six
months". Secondly, if the candidate completed his eagle project and it
matches what was approved, its done. Thirdly and most importantly,
never, and I mean never tell a youth member of the BSA to take a "LEAP",
we are here to serve the youth, to provide them with leadership, and
help them grow. Luckily, Linda had a scoutmaster conference with this
young man and they found a common ground to work from, he agreed to do
some things differently and she agreed to help him. He will undoubtably
grow into the eagle he is seeking to become. No scout is born an eagle,
they learn to spread their wings and fly along and then above the
scouting trail.
