I think what you've been doing is the right way to do it. I realize
that we all lead busy lives, but I feel advancement should be earned.
While he was at baseball, he was not leading his patrol, so how could he
possibly be earning his advancement? Once he gets to Life, nobody will
"cut him some slack" on his Eagle project. I would, though, let him
know before he makes his decision to play baseball that the time spent
at there will not be counted towards advancement.
