Lydia,
Thank you for extending an act of unselfish kindness in sharing a
pleasant wish with all of us on Scouts-L. I am sorry that some of our
number have been jaded by bad experiences or were unable to recognize the
intention behind your act. It seems that using this medium to
communicate, while wonderful and exciting, is also difficult because we
lack the cues from voice, body language, etc. that we normally would have
in face-to-face communications. To make up for these cues it is easy to
read things into a message based on one's experiences and attitudes. I
guess this experience just serves to remind each of us that we really
need to be careful to not read too much into what a message sender is
saying.
Many who are new here may not know how many times you have stepped
forward to help another Scouter with a good suggestion or an idea to help
the boys. Even fewer know of the hours you spent without asking for
recognition when you colorized graphics of Scout badges so that other
Scouters could use them.
Lydia you are a wonderful Scouter and I'm glad that we have you around
this virtual roundtable that never ends.
