Follows this is a proposal for a new Newsgroup Called
rec.scouting.usa.Jambo97 in Usenet Thank You for you time.

rec.scouting.usa.Jambo97 Discusses all aspects of the 1997 National =
Boy
Scout Jamboree at Ft. AP Hill Virginia.

This is a formal Request for Discussion (RFD) for the creation of a
world-wide moderated Usenet Newsgroup rec.scouting.usa.Jambo97. This =
is not
a Call for Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time. Procedural det=
ails
are below.

RATIONALE: rec.scouting.usa.Jambo97

This group needs to be created to allow all users, regardless of emai=
l
capabilities, to view important and vital information for the 1997 Na=
tional
Boy Scout Jamboree in Ft. AP Hill Virginia, published on the Mailing =
List
=91Jambo97.=92 Posters on rec.scouting.usa should be able to post to=
separate
newsgroups, mainly, one in regards to the 1997 National Jamboree. Ma=
iling
List =91Jambo97=92, needs a gated Newsgroup available to all members =
of the
World with access to Usenet, to discuss issues in regards to the Jamb=
oree.
This list needs to be moderated to avoid "spam," sexually-explicit
information, or other unnecessary or unwanted postings in compliance =
to the
Boy Scouts of America National Policy of Cleanliness. This group wil=
l add
to the benefits of the 1997 National Boy Scout Jamboree and the Discu=
ssion
of it. The 1997 Jamboree is scheduled for July 28th - August 5th 199=
7.

This group will discuss all aspects of the 1997 National Boy Scout
Jamboree, as organized by the Boy Scouts of America. Topics in quest=
ion
would include, but not limit, Scouting=92s Role in the Jamboree, Prob=
lems and
Questions regarding the Jamboree, Action Centers, Activities, Shows,
Guests, Contingents, Monetary Issues, General Questions, Location Iss=
ues,
Weather Concerns, Youth Staff, Youth Contingency, Adult Staff, Adult
Leaders, and any other Jamboree Related Topics. Some Topics that may=
be
welcome, but inappropriate, includes, but not limited to: Patch Trad=
ing,
Problems with National, or any other Non-Related Boy Scout Issues. T=
opics
that would be forbidden, in this moderated group, would contain, but =
not
limit: Sexually-Explicit Materials, SPAM of any kind, FLAME Posting,
Advertisements of any kind, or Non-related Boy Scout Issues. This
Newsgroup will remain active, before, during and after the 1997 Natio=
nal
Scout Jamboree, the group=92s name may change to fit the upcoming Jam=
boree or
the such. This Group currently has no official connections to the 19=
97
National Jamboree, Boy Scouts of America, or any subsidiaries. This =
group
will remain for General Discussion of Jamborees

members of the Group are protected from Sexually-Explicit materials, =

FLAME, or Advertisements of any kind. This is to ensure that the Nat=
ional
Policy of the Boy Scouts of America remain active while reading and p=
osting
to this group. Since the Group deals with, and many members will be,=
youth
or minors, it is imperative to restrict access to users who wish to a=
buse
this policy. The moderator is a Webmaster for Bishop Montgomery High
School in Torrance, California USA. The Moderator is a member of the=
HTML
Writers guild, an active Boy Scout member, a Usenet enthusiast, and a=
Staff
member of the 1997 National Jamboree. The Moderator will be required=
to
uphold the Charter of this group by rejecting messages that do not co=
nform
to it or the National Policy of the Boy Scouts of America for whateve=
r

This is a Request for Discussion, not a Call for Votes. In this phas=

news.announce.newgroups), after which a call for votes (CFV) maybe po=
