Two years ago, when I was "between positions" one of the thing I also
checked out was becoming a scouting professional. The Council Office was
only about 10 minutes from my old employer, etc.
I have 2 masters degrees (Library Science and Business Administration) and
have worked extensively in the non-profit/government sector.
The salaries offered are not only not comparable to the profit sector, but
in Fairfield County Connecticut are not even in the same league as most
non-profits! I greatly adminire what these folks do, but it was not enough
for me to be able to think about it, and still pay for basic living
expenses. It also explains why, for the third time in 8 years, Nutmeg
District is without a DE and that there are now 2 districts in the council
without DEs.
I sure don't have answers, but I do know the questions.
