In a Recent Scouts-L, Chris Boardman asked about the availability of
the Youth Protection Video, A'Time To Tell"
Chris,
I have the three videos, the Adult Training tape, the Cub age
"It Happened To ME" and "A Time To Tell" right here is Hertfordshire.
Unfortunately, the tapes are in US NTSC format, rather than PAL and I
have not found any means of translating the tapes into the UK PAL
format.
As ADC in London I have, with Council approval, dubbed copies
for the troops I serve and made them available for the cost of a blank
video tape. If you have access to a milti-system vcr and Television
set, I will be happy to send you your own copy with all three tapes.
Alternatively, perhaps we can arrange a joint training session.
Birmingham is not all that far up the M-1/M-6.
Here in the Channel District of the Transatlantic Council, we
hold leaders' training several times each year for the most active
unit leaders and wend them back to their units with the tape and
training handouts to conduct both the adult and youth video training
sessions. In that I am a sworn federal criminal investigator and have
professional experience handling these investigations, I usually
invite the local Constabulary and the Military Family Services Center
(US military equivalent of the Social Services crew) to attend and
participate. With our military units, in addition to the jurisdiction
of the local constabulary and Crown Prosecution Service, the Uniform
Code of Military Justice may apply and jurisdiction can become a maze.
Sadly, there have been times (in my 21 years in my profession) when
this policy has had to be invoked, and in my experience, the BSA
system works. =20
In any event, if you would like to discuss our training or
arrange a demonstration of the BSA Videos, please contact me at 01923
262 317. And you should have received that catalog by now. If not,
let me know.=20
