Boy recognition

I haven't been following all the pinewood derby posts- but did catch the
notes about giving each boy a ribbon or certificate. I think this is
important.
Our 6yr old grandson is in all-day kindergarten (3 days a week) at a local
Christian school. His teacher has some homemade certificates for (fill in
the blank). She gives one out for 'Helper' if the child helps pick up the
classroom at the end of the day. Tommy has brought home his certificates
and is very proud of them. (Of course his room can use some straightening up
:-) ) So I can see how a boy would be thrilled to get a ribbon/certificate
for his efforts at building/racing his car. I don't think it takes away
from the 1,2,3rd place winners (who usually get trophies?). In a few more
years, Grandpa and Tommy will be ready to race. :-)
