Re: Song Book

Frank Porter raised an interesting question with regard to my scouting
songbook ( http://student.curtin.edu.au/~poneilgdo/songbook.html ):

>Thanks for the Songbook.
>My only problem is music. What are the tunes?
>
>Everyone seems to think we all know the tunes to all of these songs.
>It would be most helpful if a "tag" were given to the title that suggest the
>tune.

As I told him in my reply, where I know the name of a tune I have tried to
do as he suggests and put an indication in the form of (Tune - "Battle Hymn
of the Republic"). My problem is that for many of the tunes I have only ever
heard them in connection with the songs listed. For the benefit of Frank and
others, I would appreciate if anyone knows another name for the tune to any
of the songs for which I do not already have such a tag listed could let me
know what title I should include. Alternatively, can anyone suggest any
other way of indicating tunes to songs (short of recording the song and
people having to download huge .wav files...). I can sympathise with Frank;
I have had the same problem in finding scouting songs on the net that had
interesting words but I had no idea of what tune could be used.
