What division and if anyone has a phone number for the folks a national who
produce/buy videos. We have been very disappointed at the AV aspect of the BSA
and with people in our troop that have the equipment and boys who are willing
to do it. Who can we contact about re-making some of these videos?

Hi all,

I have not shown the film, "A Time to Tell" to my scout troop yet, but
think it is necessary to do so. I thank Jan for reminding me (and all of
us) of the importance of this activity, and will dedicate the showing of
the film to Jan.

OTOH, I did show the film, "It happened to me" to my cub pack last
March, after first showing it to the parents the month before. It
couldn't have gone better. Only one parent that I know of refused to let
her son see the film; all the other folks were very supportive and took
the matter very seriously.

I later found out that it apparently did some good; it alerted one of the
boys to the true nature of a situation that was starting to develop in
his own life, and the slituation ended before tragedy occurred.

So Jan, I am a believer in this. I think that a lot of SMs and other
adults (including me) are sometimes in denial about the potential for
disaster than can occur. "It'll never happen here," they say. Of course,
when it does, it's too late.

There's no question that these are difficult matters to talk about with
boys. The film, "It Happened to Me" has scenes in it that made my skin
crawl! But all the parents realized the importance of getting beyond the
discomfort of watching these kinds of typical scenarios, because the boys
need the knowledge to recognizse these come-ons for what they are!

IL'm going to go by our service center today and ask for a copy of "A
Time to Tell."
