I've been camping for 35 years, used about everything out there, and I
swear by Thermarest. Just a couple of suggestions: I first bought the
3/4 size to save weight, size and expense. I later regretted it and
bought a full-size. If it's for a child, 3/4 may be plenty. Thermarest
also makes what they call a "Powerlounger." It's the same pad, but with
extra straps attached that convert the pad into a camp chair. My boys
always fight over it at camp. It's only a little more, and well worth it.
