Hello List
Back in September I requested input for the revision of the Webelos
Handbook, and many of you responded. Thanks. The task force is still
working on the recommendations for the new handbook.
Now I ask those of you who are Aquatic's directors or WSI's, for input
pertaining to the Aquanaut Activity Badge. Questions have been raised
concerning whether or not the elementary back stroke in requirement #1
should be changed to the crawl, for Webelos aged boys? What stoke do most
young people learn first? Do we need to set a requirement for the number
of different type of strokes a Webelos must learn? How many different
stokes do you teach?
Because the Webelos Aquanaut program can be a launching pad into Scouting's
requirements to earn the classification of "swimmer", do we need to
increase the distance a Webelos need to swim (100 feet) to come close to
the (300 feet) a swimmer must swim in Boy Scouts, or is that asking too
much for boys this age?
Time is short, please send your responses directly to me at
"easchmitt@penn.com"
If you have any additional input regarding the Webelos Handbook or any
requirements, please forward them to me quickly. The second set of
recommendations need to be filed in two weeks.
Thanks ..... Ed
