I have a problem with Terry, and although I have had to
remove a problem Scout from my Troop I did so with great regret and
quite nearly in tears. I did so because it was neccesary to protect
the safety of my scouts. When it was done I felt sadness and emptyness
not gladness and relief. I may be reading Terry wrong but those were
the feelings that he seemed to display in his post. If he did feel sad
personally that this boy was no longer with his Troop then I apologize
now and withdraw my displeasure.
I think it is important to remember that we are not there to be the
"best troop" or "the honor unit". Those things are nice when and if they
come but I would much rather point to a boy who was on the track to jail
and other bad things and say I made a difference in that boy's life than
point to a hundred ribbons on the Troop flag.
Just one man's heartfelt opinion,
